Mental Performance Coach
Description:
The Arizona Diamondbacks are looking to add a full-time Mental Performance Coach for the upcoming 2026 season. This position provides direct mental performance training to players with a primary focus on player development and support to coaching staff within the organization.
Responsibilities:
· Assisting the Coordinator of the Mental Skills Department with development, implementation, and evaluation of mental performance services for the organization.
· Develop trusting and meaningful relationships with players, coaches, and staff.
· Creation of individualized mental performance materials for players (e.g. mental performance plans)
· Travel to assigned affiliates over the course of the season
· Assisting with implementation of mental performance services during Instructional League and Spring Training
· Providing group training sessions (e.g. mindfulness meditation, visualization, etc.)
· Communicating consistently and appropriately with members of the Mental Performance Department and other departments as needed
· Documenting in detail the services provided throughout the season
· Participation in offseason programs including performance camps for players and continuing education opportunities
· Assisting with research and development of new methods and technology for the Mental Skills Department
· Additional duties as assigned by the Mental Performance Coordinator
Logistics:
· Relocation - It is highly preferred that the Mental Performance Coach relocate to Arizona for this position
· Travel – The Mental Performance Coach is expected to travel during the course of the Regular Season to assigned Minor League affiliates which may include the Diamondbacks Academy in the Dominican Republic (Passport preferred). There may also be travel during the off-season calendar to the Academy for select camps.
· Spring Training & Offseason Camps – The Mental Performance Coach will be expected to attend and serve during Spring Training (February & March) along with other offseason events (e.g. instructional league, performance camps, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
· Completion of a graduate degree in Sport Psychology (or a related field)
· Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) through the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (or willingness to obtain during employment)
· 2+ years of experience providing mental performances services with elite athletes at collegiate and/or professional levels
· Experience in or knowledge of professional baseball
