JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Director, Ticket Sales
Reports to: VP / General Manager
Start Date: January 2026
Overview: The Sioux City Explorers are looking for a high energy, hard-working, success driven individual to lead our Sales Department throughout the 2026 season and beyond. Position Summary: Individual is directly responsible for leading and managing all Ticket Sales efforts (Season Tickets, Mini Plans, Group Sales) for the Sioux City Explorers. Primary focus is on generating revenue via direct sales efforts (cold calling and in-person meetings) and building a sales culture conducive of hitting and surpassing the company’s overall sales goals. This person will largely focus on generating new business while assisting with some renewal accounts. The Director, Ticket Sales will also build and lead a team of seasonal Sales Associates focused on selling ticket and group packages throughout the year.
Essential Functions:
1. Sales – Responsible for achieving a personal sales goal primarily generated through new sales (cold calls, in person meetings, networking), while also directly managing additional sales staff.
2. Leadership - Be a leader amongst our staff - demonstrated through hard work and the ability/desire to help grow the organization. This person will be counted on to bring creative ideas to the table that continue to push the success of the Explorers
3. Be involved in the community setting face to face sales meetings, attending functions and developing creative ways to engage the business community.
4. Managing the overall team sales effort including new and renewal accounts.
5. Fulfill and maintain an assigned standard in personal sales efforts.
6. Provide exceptional customer service to all X’s fans and clients.
7. Assist in database management / data analysis as need, in an effort to promote growth of the organization.
8. Responsible for all paperwork that is attributed to clients.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Bachelor’s Degree plus 3- 4 years of related experience in Minor League sports sales (or equivalent industry)
2. Desire to succeed in Sales!
3. Proven track record of hitting and exceeding yearly sales goals (both individual and personal)
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office products
5. Ability to motivate and communicate effectively with staff.
6. Ability to work effectively on an individual basis and within a team framework.
7. Ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines and achieve objectives.
8. Strong planning and organizational skills.
9. Ability to maintain a professional business image.
10. Desire to work long hours when needed to achieve results.
Compensation:
- Competitive compensation based on experience (to be discussed during interview process)
- Commission and bonuses tied to direct sales efforts.
