Gary SouthShore RailCats Internships are designed for college students (priority to juniors and seniors) seeking real world experience, and are set to challenge, prepare you for the demands of the fast-paced professional sports and entertainment industry, and set you apart in any career path you pursue.
This is an internship position where candidates must be able to receive academic credit for this internship and will be paid a monthly stipend of $750

INTERNSHIP TIMEFRAME: 
May - September 2026

OPERATIONS INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Execute all setup and teardown for games and events, including tables, tents, signage, seating, and fan areas
  • Maintain stadium cleanliness and presentation before, during, and after each event (bathrooms, stands, concourse, seating areas, etc.)
  • Ensure all areas are organized and fully stocked before gates open
  • Maintain effective communication with the Operations Manager and other departments throughout each event
  • Engage with fans and community members during games and non-RailCats events
  • Assist Head Groundskeeper with pre and in-game field maintenance 
  • Assist with community event mascot appearances 
  • Other duties as assigned
 
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS: 
  • Maintain a Positive and Enthusiastic Attitude
  • Passion for sports and strong desire to work in a team environment
  • Interact with fans and community members to enhance their experience and promote a welcoming stadium atmosphere.
  • Support Grounds crew in ALL tarp pulls which may occur on game days, non-game days, weekends, and holidays, ensuring efficient and safe field preparations.
  • Please be aware that you will be expected to help out in ALL departments no matter what position you are hired for. After all, the best, most successful RailCats Interns jump in wherever needed, bring great energy, and make every day at the ballpark better!

QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Undergraduate or graduate student attending accredited university 
  • Must be able to earn college credit for internship - No exceptions 
  • Experience in customer service, operations, or sports environment preferred but not required
  • Must be able to commit to work the entire internship period
  • Willingness and ability to work long hours, including nights, weekends and holidays as required 
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis  
  • Highly motivated with strong work ethic & organizational skills for multiple tasks
