Job Overview
As Rusty the RailCat, you will be responsible for bringing to life the character and spirit of the RailCats organization by portraying our beloved mascot. Your role is vital in creating a memorable and entertaining experience for fans, engaging with audiences of all ages, and enhancing the overall fan engagement at games and community events. This is a part-time seasonal role from May – September.
Responsibilities
- Perform in costume as Rusty for RailCats home games and select events
- Express energy, enthusiasm, and emotion through body language and physical gestures
- Create friendly and positive interactions by taking photos, signing autographs, and engaging with fans
- Plan and execute dance routines, skits, and crowd interactions to entertain fans in between innings
- Encourage fan participation and help create an exciting game-day atmosphere
- Follow the game day script and collaborate with the promotional team
- Maintain the mascot suit, including basic care, cleanliness, and reporting any repair needs
- Have fun and bring personality to Rusty!
Qualifications
- Prior mascot experience preferred; previous performance experience (dance, acting, or similar) strongly preferred
- Strong non-verbal communication skills
- Availability to work RailCats home games including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Comfortable performing in a confined costume with limited visibility, adapting to different performance environments and situations
- Reliable, dependable, and punctual
