The Gary SouthShore RailCats is seeking a seasonal full time Main Kitchen Manager to be a part of the team’s 2026 season.  We are currently seeking an experienced food service professional to assist in the everyday operations of our main kitchen. As the Main Kitchen Cook, you will get first-hand experience in the day-to-day operation of a professional baseball franchise.

MAIN KITCHEN MANAGER’S RESPONSIBILITIES: 
•  Responsible for the safe handling, food preparation, and presentation for all catering and hospitality areas, team meals, and overseeing all food preparation within the ballpark. 

•  Working closely with the Food & Beverage Department on placing food and beverage orders, food preparation, and waste management

• Working close with the Hospitality Manager in achieving the event and catering goals. Including the overall organization, sanitation, and stocking levels of all catering, and hospitality venues. 

• Establish and maintain systems and procedures for storing, preparing, and serving of food and related products, as well as ensuring working condition of all food service equipment.

•Ensuring food preparation areas are following ServSafe and health department regulations

•Assist with hiring, training, supervising, and scheduling seasonal kitchen employees. 

• Responsible for the general appearance and cleanliness of kitchen areas

•  Adhere to all uniform requirements and team policies

• Other duties assigned by the Manager of Hospitality & Special Events.

 

QUALIFICATIONS : 

·Past food and beverage cooking experience is REQUIRED

·Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts is recommended

· Must be able to commit to work the entire baseball season from start to finish 

·Willingness and ability to work long hours, including nights, weekends and holidays as required 

· Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis 

·Extremely coachable, upbeat and positive attitude 

·Highly motivated with strong work ethic 

·Passion for providing an exceptional fan experience

· Strong desire to work in a team environment 

COMPENSATION: Salary based on experience
