Internship Summary:
The Burlington Sock Puppets (winners of the 2022 and 2025 Appalachian League Organization of the Year) are one of the most dynamic and community-driven entertainment organizations in summer baseball. Located in Burlington, North Carolina, the Sock Puppets are a proud member of the Appalachian League powered by Major League Baseball and USA Baseball, and a marquee staple in the Burlington and Alamance County community. This internship program is designed to provide students and aspiring professionals with a comprehensive, hands-on experience in the sports and live entertainment industry. Interns will have the opportunity to work across multiple departments, gaining valuable insight into the business operations, marketing strategy, and fan experience that drive one of the most recognizable brands in summer collegiate baseball.
Internship Goals:
- Learn the day-to-day business functions and impact of a small-market sports organization.
- Gain the ability to execute elite experiential game day promotions and other various events within a ballpark.
- Develop a relationship selling and revenue generating skill set.
- Exposure to leadership roles and managerial responsibilities associated with one or more of the following concentrations;
- Box Office, Groups & Hospitality Sales
- Food & Beverage
- Merchandise
- Marketing & Media Communications
- Creative Services & Content
- Stadium Operations & Events
- Promotions & Entertainment
Internship Requirements:
- Full-Time summer internship from Mid-May to the beginning of August.
- Must be working towards a Bachelor’s degree in sports management, communications, sales or other business major.
- Must be able to work all events and game days put on by the Burlington Sock Puppets and Burlington Baseball, Inc.
- Be able to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
