SUMMARY
The Operations Event Staff individual reports to the Operations Manager and is responsible for comprehensive event preparation, execution, and general maintenance of the venue. This role involves supervising permanent and temporary custodial and operations personnel, including setup/tear down crews, to ensure efficient and high-quality event delivery and facility upkeep.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Plans, supervises, directs, and exercises general oversight over skilled and semi-skilled employees engaged in a wide variety of non-engineering tasks related to the operation and maintenance of the venue's building, grounds, and equipment.
- Assists in supervising the preparation of labor estimates and material costs for events and maintenance projects.
- Supervises and oversees the cleaning and sanitization of the venue before, during, and after events.
- Assists in the installation and breakdown of portable riser systems, basketball floors, ice decks, tables, and chairs.
- Hires, trains, schedules, and provides daily supervision to other crew members, and assists in the performance evaluations of operations workers.
- Maintains the preventative maintenance program for maintenance service areas and equipment; performs or arranges for the repair of maintenance and material handling equipment.
- Assists in the planning, layout, and space allotment for various functions such as trade shows, banquets, convention meetings, concerts, and stage attractions.
- Assists in the training of operations employees in proper cleaning and repair methods, use of materials, and operation of equipment.
- Conducts daily inspections of the venue, reports damage and vandalism, and arranges for or performs necessary repairs.
- Supervises the conversion and changeover of the venue from one event to another, ensuring timely and efficient transitions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will supervise part-time operations staff employees and is responsible for their overall direction and coordination. The individual will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. This includes event-by-event training, praising, and correcting behavior of staff under their supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Must have a comprehensive familiarity with various aspects of entertainment facility production and maintenance, including custodial services, materials handling, work scheduling, and event setup/tear down.
- Must be familiar with custodial procedures, including Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), equipment operation, proper usage of chemicals, and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must possess the capacity to develop and train subordinate personnel, including skilled and semi-skilled employees, and permanent, part-time, and temporary operations staff.
- Must be skilled in the operation and maintenance of various equipment relevant to venue operations.
- Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision and establish priorities effectively.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Ability to operate light machinery, such as forklifts, front-end loaders, and scrubbers.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to operate applicable computer programs to accomplish essential functions of the job.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must possess a current, valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to obtain necessary certifications and licenses as required for the role.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to speak and understand English fluently.
- Ability to read, interpret, and execute documents and programs such as safety instructions, operating and maintenance manuals, and procedure guides furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form.
- Ability to interpret and work from sketches, diagrams, technical orders, and manufacturer’s manuals and specification handbooks.
- Ability to write and maintain routine records and reports clearly and accurately.
- Ability to deal effectively and courteously with venue patrons, clients, and co-workers.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to maintain a calm, composed presence in an often fast-paced environment where multiple tasks, events, and stimuli may occur simultaneously.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

- Requires the ability to work a varied schedule under diverse conditions and according to sometimes stringent time schedules. Hours worked will vary due to the demands of the event schedule, operational changeovers/conversions and other related activities that are a part of the operation of the venue. The schedule will include a mix of day, night, and weekend hours.
