SUMMARY

Provides assistance to facility clients and patrons before, during and after events.  Monitors and controls access to venue.  Ensures that the security of the facility and its contents are not compromised.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

1.    Be knowledgeable of venue policies/procedures.

2.    Enforce Access Control Policies and Procedures.

3.    Effectively communicate to full-time employees, staff and patrons at all times. This includes in an emergency situation, as well as understanding the use of two-way radios.        

4.    Open building at designated times to allow show personnel in for event access.

5.    Close building at the conclusion of venue daily activity or move-out of show personnel and equipment.

6.    Monitor and police staff and client parking lots.

7.    Provide directions to various areas of the facilities.

8.    Monitor exit doors to prevent persons without authorized access from entering the facilities.

9.    Work closely with staff, police, and medical personnel to ensure the safety of patrons.

10.  Communicate housekeeping and potential hazards to operations staff.

11.  Complete incident reports and other administrative paperwork as necessary.

12.  Enforce building policies and fire codes.

13.  Be familiar with evacuation procedures and patron safety.

14.  Assist patrons to emergency exits in case of evacuation.

15.  Ability to protect facility, performers, customers, exhibits, and stage from vandalism or abuse.

16.  Ensure that all doors are secure when closing the building.

17.  Be familiar with fire detection and venue security system(s) in the case of alarm.

18.  Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 1.    The person who will be successful in this role has security or law enforcement experience and feels comfortable in a live event atmosphere, while engaging with patrons with a “safety and customer service” focused mindset.  

2.    This position requires excellent skills in customer relations, communications and problem solving.

3.    Qualified applicants must be available to work days, nights and weekends, and occasionally holidays.

4.    Law Enforcement and/or Military experience is preferred but not required.   

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

1.    High School diploma, GED or equivalent.

2.    Customer service experience desired.

3.    2+ Years of Commercial, Residential or Event Security experience required. 

4.    Prior Law Enforcement and/or Military experience preferred. 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

1.    Applicant must possess current, valid driver’s license and a current working home telephone with a number that can be accessed by building management personnel for business contact purposes.

2.    Applicant must be able to obtain any certificates, licenses or registrations necessary to complete the essential duties and responsibilities of this position.

3.    Able to acquire and maintain a valid Illinois Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC), including state accredited training requirements.

      

LANGUAGE SKILLS

1.    Ability to speak and understand English.

2.    Ability to communicate utilizing two-way radio equipment.

3.    Ability to read and interpret documents such as instructions, policies and procedures.

4.    Ability to write routine reports.

5.    Ability to deal effectively and courteously with staff, clients and the general public.

 

REASONING ABILITY

1.    Ability to maintain a calm, composed presence in an often fast-paced environment where multiple tasks, events and stimulus may occur simultaneously.

2.    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and react appropriately.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1.    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.

2.    The employee frequently is required to stand; walk and climb stairs; sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.

3.    The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

4.    Must be able to work outdoors.

5.    Must be able to remain at assigned position until relieved or dismissed.

6.    Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently up to 50 pounds.

7.    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
