Position Summary
The Director of Production provides leadership and oversight for all production, technical services, and event-related operations across the Fresno Convention Center venues, including Selland Arena, Saroyan Theatre, Convention Center, and Valdez Hall. This position is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality production services for concerts, conventions, theatrical performances, sporting events, and large-scale community programs. The Director ensures all technical element stage operations, audio, lighting, video, rigging, crew scheduling, and equipment management—are executed at the highest professional standard.
 Essential Duties & Responsibilities
·        Attendance during regularly scheduled work hours is required, along with availability for intermittent on‑call shifts during off-hours.
·        Lead and manage all production staff, including full-time, part-time, and union labor.
·        Develop staffing plans and schedules and oversee all technical and production activities from planning through load-out.
·        Collaborate with promoters, touring groups, producers, and internal teams to determine technical needs and provide expert guidance.
·        Manage production budgets, labor estimates, rentals, and expense tracking.
·        Approve labor calls and crew assignments in alignment with union agreements.
·        Ensure all equipment, systems, and staging areas are properly maintained, inspected, and safely operated.
·        Oversee installation of audio, lighting, video, staging, rigging, and other show elements.
·        Maintain strong relationships with IATSE, vendors, contractors, and touring personnel.
·        Oversee inventory, procurement, and maintenance of production equipment and supplies.
·        Develop and enforce safety protocols; ensure OSHA, fire code, and facility compliance; and manage risk, emergency preparedness, and event safety.
·        Troubleshoot and resolve technical or operational issues during events. Prepare post-event reports, labor reconciliations, performance evaluations, estimates, costings, and settlements.
·        Support long-term planning, capital improvements, and equipment upgrades. 
·        Other duties as assigned.
 Supervisory Responsibility
·        Supervise all production staff and ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with VenuWorks’ policies and procedures, and in alignment with all local CBA’s.
  Qualifications
·        5–7 years of experience in live event production or venue operations, with supervisory experience.
·        Strong knowledge of Auto CAD, lighting, sound, rigging, staging, and A/V systems, including experience with union labor (IATSE preferred).
·        Excellent organizational, time-management, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to work in fast‑paced environments and manage multiple events.
·        Ability to interpret technical documents, rider requirements, diagrams, and rigging plots.
·        Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed.
 Education and/or Experience
·        Bachelor’s degree in a related technical or production field preferred.
·        Experience in convention centers, arenas, or performing arts venues.
·        Knowledge of crowd management, event safety, and facility operations.
 Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
·        Must possess a current, valid driver’s license.
·         Must have a working telephone number that can be accessed by management for business purposes.
 Salary Range
·        $125,000 – $135,000 annually

 Physical Demands
The physical demands described below represent those required to perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodation may be provided for individuals with disabilities. Duties may require working both indoors and outdoors. Candidates must be able to maneuver throughout the facilities, including walking or standing for up to 8–10 hours and using stairs in all four venues. Occasional lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds is required. Work conditions may include extended hours, loud environments, high elevations (such as rigging areas), and physically demanding tasks.
