SUMMARY
This part‑time position is responsible for a wide range of daily and monthly payroll and financial accounting duties across four venues: Selland Arena, Valdez Hall, Saroyan Theatre, and the Fresno Convention Center.
HOURLY WAGE RANGE: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour, non-exempt. (Wage determined by applicable position experience and years of experience.)
BENEFITS: Employee owned (ESOP), paid sick time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned.)
1. Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable
- Perform all Accounts Payable functions, including processing check requests on a regular basis.
- Review, code, and process vendor invoices accurately.
- Research and reconcile invoice discrepancies.
- Respond to vendor inquiries.
- Produce 1099 forms annually.
- Reconcile A/R ledger monthly and create invoices as needed.
- Initiate collections conversations with departments, management, or customers regarding past‑due accounts.
2. Payroll
- Process employees and union payroll accurately and on time.
- Manage external time‑keeping software to ensure accuracy, functionality, and ease of use.
- Maintain the general ledger for payroll transactions, including multi‑building, departmental, and event allocations.
- Verify payroll hours with appropriate management prior to processing.
3. Journal Entries
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries.
- Determine and record appropriate monthly accruals.
4. Reporting
- Assist the Director with monthly financial review, variance analysis, and internal reporting requirements.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with recording and reconciliation of event settlements.
- Maintain a full understanding of event activities and financial settlements.
- Assist with event merchandise sales or other event‑related support.
- Prepare and remit sales tax estimates and reports accurately and on time.
- Reconcile payable reports monthly and follow up on open purchase orders.
- Create A/R invoices for sponsorship sales, track billings, payments, and commissions.
- Assist with gathering documentation for financial audits.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to complete all essential duties satisfactorily. Requirements include:
- Ability to follow directions and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet established deadlines.
- Ability to work Monday–Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with flexibility for events, month‑end close, holidays, evenings, and weekends.
- Ability to attend large events as needed to support efficient operations.
- Strong communication skills, professionalism, and personal poise.
- Ability to work cooperatively and contribute positively to a team environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associate degree in accounting or a related Business field required.
- 1–2 years of accounting or payroll experience preferred.
- Proficiency with PC‑based accounting systems and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
- Valid driver’s license.
- Working telephone number accessible to management.
- Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret instructions, business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to present information effectively to managers, clients, customers, and the public.
