ABOUT US
VenuWorks of Davenport, LLC., and employee-owned company, is located just blocks from the picturesque Mississippi River, in the heart of downtown Davenport, IA.  VenuWorks manages two entertainment venues for the City of Davenport including the 110,000 square foot RiverCenter, one of the largest meeting/convention centers in the quad cities and the historic, 2,411 seat, gem of classic architecture, Adler Theatre.
  
SUMMARY
The Director of Finance is responsible for all aspects of financial activities and functions for the RiverCenter/Adler Theatre and all associated ancillary venues, either directly or through subordinate staff. Duties include supervision of finance department staff, financial management and control, accounting and bookkeeping, oversight of purchasing procedures, and other general financial duties. This individual will develop, install and monitor controls established to safeguard assets and properly record revenues and expenditures according to GAAP. Additional duties related to event contracting and settlements will be delegated by the Executive Director.  
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
 1.    Monitors and maintains compliance with all financial provisions of the management contract. Completes monthly income statements, balance sheets, statements of cash flow, budget variance reports, and other financial information with appropriate supporting schedules to ensure timely and accurate reporting distribution to location management, the City of Davenport, and VenuWorks, Inc.
2.    Oversee cash flow, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger activities, insurance, taxes, and payroll functions related to the day-to-day business operations.
3.    Provide overall financial direction to each venue and ensure appropriate control procedures are executed, including but not limited to; box office activities, cash handling activities, inventory controls, and food & beverage purchasing activities.
4.    Assist the Executive Director in the preparation of the annual budget, monthly and year-end reforecasting and other analytical spreadsheets as requested or needed.
5.    Maintain oversight of all operating and ticket office bank accounts with accuracy and reliability, providing for timely deposits, disbursements, and reconciliations.
 
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
 6.    Provide appropriate information to internal and/or external auditors and assist with final preparation of year-end financial statements.
7.    Have a complete understanding of all event contracts and the terms of settlement. Participate in event settlement activities such as settlement preparation and/or review, promoter payments, and show income/loss statements, as requested by the Executive Director.
8.    Direct part-time lead and their staff in merchandising activities at shows.  Assign representative from the Finance Department to close Merch at the end of each show.
9.    Ensure compliance with VenuWorks' policies and procedures. Periodically update VenuWorks’ standard finance manual to accurately reflect processes at managed venues.
10.  Assist subordinate staff with employee onboarding, payroll processing, employee benefits administration, and other HR related functions.  Ensures appropriate escalation of employee relations incidents. 
11.  Serve as Manager on Duty as required, may include nights and weekends.
12.  Act as the secondary point of contact with our Professional Employment Organization (PEO).
13.  Perform other duties, projects, and special functions as requested by the Executive Director, VenuWorks’ CFO and/or VenuWorks’ VP, HR.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Accounting and HR Coordinator.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in compliance with VenuWorks policies and applicable employment regulations.  Assists with interviewing, hiring and training employees, appraising performance, rewarding, addressing personnel complaints and resolving problems.
 
QUALIFICATIONS

1.    A demonstrated ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks with a minimum amount of instruction and supervision is essential. 
2.    Ability to organize workflow and meet established deadlines.  
3.    Work hours and schedule are generally Monday – Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm but can vary, depending on schedule of event settlements and may include holidays, evenings and weekends. 
4.    Skilled in meeting and/or exceeding the expectations, being articulate with well-developed communication skills and personal poise. 
5.    This position requires excellent teamwork skills, working cooperatively with others in the accomplishment of joint tasks and common objectives. 
6.    Contributes to a positive work environment, fosters collaboration and provides a tangible contribution.
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 
1.    Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or University in Accounting, or other Business degree with relevant experience required. Knowledge of human resources and benefits administration strongly preferred. 
2.    5 to 7 years of experience in public accounting and/or financial management, preferably at a supervisory or department leadership level.
3.    Proficiency in PC-based accounting system required. 
4.    Proficiency with MS Office programs, particularly Excel, required
5.    Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and business practices using generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 
1.    Certification or designation such as CPA, CIA, etc. is not necessary, but preferred. 
2.    Must possess a current valid driver's license and current working telephone number that can be accessed by building management for business related purposes.  
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS   
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, job-related procedures and manuals, and government regulations. Ability to provide management and staff with concise, accurate guidelines regarding financial procedures. Ability to write professional correspondence, prepare business reports, and conduct professional presentations.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.  Ability to interpret trends and analyze financial reports and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Strong cash-handling skills, experience with inventory control procedures, and good overall skills in working with numbers.
 
COGNITIVE SKILLS/REASONING ABILITY  
1.    Ability to define problems, evaluate data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
2.    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

SALARY RANGE: $80,000 - $85,000 annually, exempt. (Salary determined by applicable position experience and years of experience.)
