POSITION SUMMARY:
The Marketing Coordinator will sell sponsorships for Woodman's Sports & Convention Center. This person will find businesses that may want to sponsor the facility, explain sponsorship options, build relationships, and close sales. The role will also work with the marketing and events teams to make sure sponsors receive the benefits they are promised. Success will be measured by new leads, meetings, sponsorship sales, renewals, and sponsor satisfaction.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Find and contact local, regional, and national businesses that may be interested in sponsorships
- Build relationships with business owners and company leaders
- Learn each sponsor's goals and recommend the right sponsorship package
- Create simple sponsorship proposals and presentations
- Make sales calls, send follow-up messages, and schedule meetings
- Negotiate sponsorship agreements and close sales
- Keep customer and sales information current in the CRM
- Track leads, meetings, proposals, sales, and renewals
- Work with the marketing and events teams to deliver sponsor benefits
- Attend facility events, community meetings, and networking opportunities
- Help renew current sponsors and find opportunities to grow partnerships
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:
- Experience in sales, sponsorships, business development, marketing, or customer service
- A friendly and confident approach when speaking with businesses
- Strong follow-through and good organization
- Experience using a CRM or other sales tracking system
- Good communication, listening, and negotiation skills
- Interest in sports, events, or the local business community
- A positive, action-oriented attitude and a willingness to learn
- The ability to work well with a team
- Management of corporate website(s) in the WordPress platform
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years of experience in sales, sponsorships, business development, marketing, or a similar role; or a related college degree
- Ability to make sales calls, lead meetings, and build business relationships
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills
- Must have strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and negotiating skills
- Must be comfortable using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Must be able to learn and use a CRM and other business software
- Must be a team player and deadline-driven
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and long hours
- Must be detail-oriented and organized
- Experience meeting sales goals is preferred
- Experience with sponsorship sales or event sales is preferred
- Must be comfortable working independently and managing multiple opportunities
- Must be willing to represent the facility in the community
- Must be willing to learn the facility's sponsorship packages and sales process
- Must support the mission and values of Woodman's Sports & Convention Center
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds waist high
- May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop, or bend
- Will be required to operate a computer
- Facility has intermittent loud noise levels
