FACILITY MAINTENANCE MANAGER - Woodman's Sports & Convention Center

STATUS: FULL-TIME (EXEMPT)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Facility Maintenance Manager has a special emphasis on mechanical (HVAC), technology, computerized systems, kitchen equipment, and sporting equipment. This position will be responsible for maintenance, repairs, and routine custodial work. They will also frequently collaborate with the Events and Operations Teams for regular changeovers of the ice arena, flex court, and convention space.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

Leadership

  • Open and close facility daily
  • Hire, train, evaluate, and schedule Facility Maintenance Team Members
  • Manage and coordinate with contractors and outside vendors as needed
  • Create manuals for housekeeping, operations, and maintenance
  • Create logs for maintenance of equipment and capital plans
  • Maintain and update all logs and manuals
  • Collaborate with other departments to plan and execute ice, court, and convention changeovers
  • Awareness of the guests, community, trends, and facility offerings 
  • Monitor inventory, order supplies, and maintain, repair, and order equipment as necessary while working within the confines of a budget
  • Understand and carry out facility policies and procedures
  • Record all incidents through daily rounds during league play as MOD to ensure a safe facility

Facility Maintenance

  • Maintain overall appearance and cleanliness of the facility
  • Inventory, organize, and stock closets, toolboxes, and maintenance areas
  • Coordinate cleaning schedule, maintenance, and repair work around daily activities
  • Have knowledge of building internals (sprinkler systems, HVAC systems, alarm systems, etc.)
  • Manage utilities (lights, temperature controls, heaters, etc.)
  • Maintain and repair playing surfaces, including ice and court surfaces
  • Schedule and perform maintenance on facility equipment and building internals, contracting with outside contractors as needed
  • Follow up with guests to learn how the facility can be improved
  • Handle inspections (fire, sprinkler, elevator, etc.)
  • Operate and maintain sports equipment, including ice resurfacing machines

Grounds Maintenance

  • Monitor and maintain overall appearance and cleanliness of the building
  • Develop annual playing surface maintenance plan/log for routine repairs and cleaning
  • Operate, repair, and maintain machinery to include but not limited snow removal and basic lawn & landscape equipment
  • Keep inventory of supplies and equipment as well as maintenance logs
  • Complete special projects and daily assignments as assigned by management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have advance knowledge of commercial facilities inclusive of HVAC, electrical, suppression systems, and kitchen equipment
  • Experience working in an ice arena preferred
  • General knowledge of maintenance and janitorial duties
  • Prior responsibility in managing a daily P&L, management, and budget oversight
  • Associate's degree or related degree/certificate to the position
  • At least five (5) years of related experience 
  • Solid computer skills including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook, audio/visual
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certifications within a specific time

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • May be required to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors
  • Ability to squat, stoop, or bend frequently
  • Pushing/pulling/lifting 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb elevated areas to complete tasks (electric lift, catwalk, ladders, etc.)
  • Facility has intermittent noise
