STATUS: FULL-TIME (EXEMPT)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Aquatics Manager is responsible assisting the General Manager with the overall Aquatics operations of the facility. This role will prepare the facility for the day's demands, supervise Aquatic Team Members, develop aquatics programming, classes, and lessons, assist with chemical and pool operations, and complete daily reports. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Assist with scheduling, staff supervision and day-to-day operations of the entire facility
  • Leads and coordinates the organizational and administrative aspects of all aquatics programming
  • Hires, trains, and evaluates lifeguards
  • Ensures lifeguard staffing, coverage and job duties are compliant with all required standards & regulations 
  • Record keeping of all logs, files, reports, communications and electronic data
  • Scheduling of parties and rental of facility
  • Maintains a high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility and surrounding areas
  • Assists with conducting aquatics safety audits and reporting 
  • Provides effective leadership and direction to the Aquatics Team 
  • Oversight with admissions, sales, registrations and attendance
  • Provides supervision on evenings, weekends, and during special events as needed 
  • Conducts ongoing training and evaluation programs for lifeguards 
  • Maintains certifications of all aquatics team members
  • Completes other duties as assigned by leadership and/or General Manager

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:

  • Current certification in Deep Water Lifeguard Training by the American Red Cross, and First Aid, CRP/AED for Lifeguards or able to complete training and certification within 30 days of hire
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Management Certification (LGM)
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certifications (LGI) 
  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) 
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatics Facility Operator (AFO) certification or earned within 60 days of hire with in-house class
  • Experience in swimming events as a consumer or other relevant experience
  • Experience in managing staff in order to effectively execute a successful event and/or program
  • Experience and success in customer service, leadership, and team building
  • Action-oriented personality with a 'get it done' attitude and proficiency for efficiency

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years' experience of aquatics management is preferred 
  • Experience or general knowledge in supervising and training lifeguards or a related area of recreation
  • Requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must have strong leadership skills
  • Must be detail-oriented and have outstanding organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain focus in a high-volume, fast paced environment
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds waist high
  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop, or bend
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in direct sunlight and be exposed to outside weather conditions
  • The team member could be exposed to cleaning chemicals and must be handled with extreme caution
