The Bartender position for the Tacos & Tequila Event at Kane County Cougars is a one-day, event-specific opportunity to work in a lively, fast-paced environment. Bartenders will be responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic beverages, primarily tequila-based cocktails, while delivering exceptional customer service. This is a great opportunity to be part of a fun community event and gain experience in a professional event setting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with standard recipes and event guidelines.
- Verify identification of guests to ensure compliance with legal age requirements for alcohol consumption.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar area throughout the event.
- Operate a point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently for order processing and payment handling.
- Provide friendly, prompt, and professional service to guests while managing a high-volume environment.
- Adhere to all state and local alcohol service laws, as well as venue-specific policies.
- Assist with bar setup before the event and breakdown/clean-up afterward.
- Communicate effectively with fellow staff and supervisors to ensure smooth service flow during the event.
- All other duties as assigned
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Valid BASSET (Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training) certification.
- Previous bartending experience in a fast-paced or event setting preferred.
- Knowledge of tequila brands and cocktail recipes is a plus.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to lift, push, or carry up to 25 pounds as needed.
- Must be able to stand and walk for up to 6–8 hours.
- Must be able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, or wind.
- Availability to work the entire event day, including setup and teardown.
- Reliable transportation to and from Northwestern Medicine Field in Geneva, IL.
