JOB SUMMARY: The Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball are seeking a smart, driven, hardworking professional who is serious about building a long-term career in professional sports.
We are looking for an aggressive and accomplished sales leader who leads by example—someone who is equally comfortable setting strategy, developing salespeople, making calls, closing business, and holding a team accountable to ambitious revenue goals. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of sales success, strong leadership skills, a competitive mindset, and the desire to build a high-performing sales culture.
This is an opportunity for a motivated sales professional to play a key role in growing the Ducks’ ticket revenue and overall customer base while helping develop the next generation of sales talent.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of three (3) years of direct sales experience, preferably in sports, entertainment, hospitality, events, or a related industry.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience managing or leading a sales team.
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding aggressive sales and revenue goals.
Demonstrated knowledge and successful application of sales and marketing principles, prospecting strategies, lead generation, and closing techniques.
Proven ability to recruit, train, mentor, motivate, and hold sales representatives accountable.
Strong leadership presence and a willingness to lead by example through direct selling and prospecting.
Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with corporate partners, clients, prospects, and coworkers.
Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and execute numerous tasks in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
Customer-service-oriented approach with a high level of professionalism and integrity.
Working knowledge of Glitnir ticketing system, QuickBooks Online, and sales reporting tools a plus.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to use sales data and reporting to identify opportunities and manage performance.
Willingness and ability to work the demanding schedule associated with professional baseball, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended game-day hours.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the Ducks’ overall ticket sales operation, setting sales goals, strategies, activity standards, and performance expectations while driving the team toward annual revenue objectives.
Leading the group sales department and heavily contributing to the overall ticket sales operation
Lead by example as a salesperson, personally prospecting, presenting, negotiating, and closing ticket business while developing new business through cold calls, networking, referrals, community outreach, events, and other initiatives.
Manage, coach, motivate, and hold sales staff accountable, monitoring individual and team performance and identifying opportunities to improve sales processes and results.
Manage and grow customer and corporate partner relationships, overseeing account service and fulfillment while identifying opportunities to renew, upgrade, expand, and strengthen existing business.
Represent and promote the Ducks throughout the community, attending networking events, meetings, mascot appearances and o-site functions while identifying new business opportunities and serving as an ambassador for the organization.
Maintain strong organization and communication, including accurate sales records and databases, prospect and activity reports, budgets, and weekly updates to the General Manager, while working with other departments to ensure sales initiatives and customer commitments are properly executed.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
This position offers a base salary of $1,900–$2,500 bi-weekly, based on experience and qualifications, with additional earning potential through sales performance incentives, commissions, and potential overtime.
