Overview
Under the direction of the Director of Public Safety and Transportation, the Transportation Manager is responsible for delivering the highest level of customer service, while maximizing efficiency. Main responsibilities include directing overall leadership, planning, administration, management of the MBCC transportation plans, loading dock operations, and logistics related to department operations. The Transportation Manager provides leadership to the transportation staff (Transportation Agents, Loading Dock Supervisor), General Service Contractor and loading dock operations. Responsible for coordinating all event related transportation and dock operations logistics and staffing.
This includes working closely with internal MBCC Departments to include contract partners, vendors, exhibitors, Event Managers, show management, transportation management companies and local stakeholders on transportation and loading dock related issues and projects as directed. Their duties include supervising and managing staff that assist with transportation activities such as curbside management, directing traffic, dispatching, and routing, while maximizing efficiencies, to ensure safe and efficient operation.
The Transportation Manager also ensures that team members and patrons comply with safety rules and regulations. The transportation manager ensures there is a coordinated effort in preparation for and execution of the move in/out of each event, in compliance with MBCC policies.
This role pays an annual salary of $62,000-$72,000

Responsibilities
- Manage all transportation operations on move-ins, show days and move-outs.
- Oversee and manage the delivery of training curriculum for transportation staff, including assessing effectiveness.
- Manage all event transportation plans, including move-in and move-out operations, valet operations, hotel shuttle operations, taxi line management, and variable message sign deployment.
- Prepares Transportation Plans and maintains all required reports, records, and logs regarding transportation planning for all events.
- Reviews and approves all Transportation plans, ensuring all plans comply with MBCC policies and appropriate personnel are scheduled.
- Produces anticipated schedule of loading dock activities and coordinates with appropriate departments and contractors regarding space availability and scheduling.
- Provide leadership, direction, and order to loading dock activities and manage the loading dock team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Maintains relationships with contractors and ensures adherence to venue policies.
- Works with all MBCC departments, clients, and contractors on transportation needs for planning, management, and execution of events.
- Works with the marketing department on all transportation-related communication.
- Oversees employee parking operations, including issuing permits and maintaining documentation.
- Assists in projecting and monitoring departmental budgetary needs and spending.
- Manages Waste Management and Sustainability Program for the venue.
- Conducts shift briefings and provides necessary information to transportation staff.
- Coach, mentor, and provide direction and supervision to transportation staff; responsible for department scheduling and training.
- Collaborates closely with Public Safety to support life safety, emergency access, security operations, and overall risk management.
- Ensures safe vehicle and pedestrian movement, including traffic flow, rideshare operations, and emergency access routes.
- Maintains coordination with City of Miami Beach departments (parking, police, fire rescue) for transportation planning and emergency readiness.
- Serves as the primary liaison with City of Miami Beach Transportation and Parking Departments and third-party parking and valet operators.
- Participates in site visits and supports client engagement related to transportation operations.
- Supports emergency operations and incident response, including evacuations and traffic control.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage the work of loading dock personnel and related teams to ensure efficient and safe operations.
- Plan, assign, and direct work; support performance management, employee engagement, and coaching.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, training, and development of team members.
- Address employee concerns and resolve operational challenges in partnership with People & Culture and leadership.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of transportation flow and planning in high-volume environments, particularly within venue management.
- Experience coordinating with the City of Miami Beach on transportation plans and operations.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and navigate high-pressure situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization.
- Experience working with union contracts and transportation-related regulations preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, transportation, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in transportation, logistics, operations, or venue management strongly preferred.
- Experience in a public assembly venue or similar environment highly desirable.
Computer Skills:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate computer knowledge.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point.
- Knowledge of event industry software.
Certifications & Licenses:
- Valid Driver’s License (Required)
- OSHA 10-Hour Certification, CPR/AED/First Aid, and Florida Class D Security License (Preferred)
Work Schedule:
The work schedule of this position typically involves a 5-day work week; however, this will fluctuate based upon the needs of the community, business needs, projects and/or events. Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including late nights, early mornings, weekends or holidays and the ability to remain available 7 days per week.
