Overview

The Staff Accountant will assist the Director of Finance with accounting and HR procedures relative to the operation of the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts.  This consists of providing support in maintaining formal accounting systems and administrative support to the Director of Finance and the General Manager. This role performs a full range of professional accounting duties including A/R, A/P, general ledger entries, and balance sheet reconciliations. This role also assists as human resources for hiring, payroll and benefits administration as well as maintaining HR records and files.

 

This role will pay a salary of $16.82 to $21.84.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Finance Department in its day-to-day activities.
  • Processing and preparing accounts payable invoices and weekly check run as well as overseeing the purchase order process.
  • Detail processing for accounts receivable including invoicing and processing all daily cash receipts.
  • Key data into accounting software for payroll, and general journal entries.
  • Verify GL coding and post original entries to subsidiary and general ledger accounts.
  • Process employee timecard data using e-Time.
  • Assist with month end closing procedures.
  • Prepare a variety of financial statements, reports, and analyses.
  • Reconcile bank statements and select balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with on-site human resource paperwork, including but not limited to all new hire and personnel changes.
  • Assist with yearly audit work papers and annual budget as needed.
  • Apply Federal, State and local laws and regulations to accounting and audit work.
  • Provide general office support and oversee the receptionist.
  • Other miscellaneous projects and duties as assigned by the Director of Finance or General Manager.

Qualifications

  • Either a minimum of two years of accounting experience or a Bachelor’s Degree or working towards a degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, or a closely related field preferred.
  • Solid understanding of and ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Sage Accounting Software and ADP payroll software preferred.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel.
