Overview
The Staff Accountant will assist the Director of Finance with accounting and HR procedures relative to the operation of the Owensboro Convention Center & Sportscenter. This role performs a full range of professional accounting duties including A/R, A/P, general ledger entries, and balance sheet reconciliations. This role also assists human resources with payroll and benefits administration.
This role will pay a salary of $19.50 to $2.50.

Responsibilities
- Assist the Finance Department in its day-to-day activities.
- Detail processing for accounts receivable including invoicing and processing all daily cash receipts.
- Assist with processing accounts payable invoices and weekly check run.
- Key data into accounting software for payroll, and general journal entries.
- Verify GL coding and post original entries to subsidiary and general ledger accounts.
- Process employee timecard data using e-Time.
- Assist with month end closing procedures.
- Prepare a variety of financial statements, reports, and analyses.
- Reconcile bank statements and select balance sheet accounts.
- Help conduct monthly inventory accounts and prepare Cost of Goods Sold journal entries.
- Coordinate with various departments on labor allocation costs to events.
- Apply Federal, State and local laws and regulations to accounting and audit work.
- Provide general office and administrative support.
- Assists in various HR functions including benefit administration and payroll.
- Other miscellaneous projects and duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.
Qualifications
- Either a minimum of two years of accounting experience or a Bachelor’s Degree or working towards a degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, or a closely related field preferred.
- Solid understanding of and ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Sage Accounting Software and ADP payroll software preferred.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel.
