Overview
The Specialist, Social Media - AHL is responsible for bringing the energy, emotion, and culture of professional hockey at TD Coliseum to life across social platforms. This role serves as the day-to-day digital storyteller for the team, capturing game nights, player moments, and behind-the-scenes content while driving meaningful fan engagement and brand growth.
This role pays an annual salary of $50,000-$60,000 CAD.

Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day management of hockey social media channels across all major platforms.
- Develop and execute platform-specific content strategies aligned with brand and seasonal objectives.
- Plan and manage content calendars around games, announcements, promotions, and key moments.
- Ensure consistent tone, voice, and storytelling that reflects the team identity.
- Lead real-time social coverage on game days, including live posting and fan interaction.
- Capture, edit, and publish short-form video and mobile-first content for social platforms.
- Create quick-turn content using photos, clips, and trends to maximize relevance and reach.
- React quickly to in-game moments, cultural moments, and fan conversations.
- Collaborate with the Creative Designer and Brand team on hockey-related social content.
- Contribute ideas and creative direction for graphics, motion, and video assets.
- Ensure content is optimized for each platform and audience.
- Align with the entertainment social lead to share best practices and maintain brand consistency.
- Actively engage with fans across social platforms to foster conversation and connection.
- Monitor sentiment, comments, and messages to support fan experience and brand reputation.
- Support community initiatives and storytelling through social channels.
- Track performance metrics and provide insights on content and channel performance.
- Use data to refine content strategy and improve engagement and growth.
- Support marketing campaigns tied to ticket sales, promotions, and brand initiatives.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Media, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2–4 years of experience managing social media channels, ideally in sports, entertainment, or live events.
- Experience creating and editing short-form social content.
- Sports experience is an asset but not required.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
- Comfortable editing content quickly in fast-paced, real-time environments.
- Familiarity with social scheduling and publishing tools like Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite, etc.
- Proficient in reading analytics and reporting tools (native platform insights, Sprout Social reports, etc.).
- Strong writing and storytelling skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight timelines.
- Collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable working across teams.
- Passion for sports, fan culture, and live events.
- Available to work evenings and weekends as needed for event coverage.
- Maintains confidentiality and professionalism when privy to sensitive information.
