Overview
This Skating Coach role is responsible for teaching across a range of levels and disciplines, supporting facility programs and events, and providing a positive experience for all participants. This position reports to the Rink and Programs Manager.
This role pays an hourly wage of $20.77.

Responsibilities
- Teach group classes across a range of levels and disciplines from beginners to advanced development, including off-ice training.
- Utilize varied teaching methods to engage skaters of different ages, learning styles, and skill levels across all program levels.
- Accurately and thoroughly evaluate students—completing report cards and certificates as necessary.
- Communicate and promote programs to guests to support growth and the facility's pursuit of excellence across figure skating and hockey.
- Arrive on time and provide support prior to and after class as needed.
- Have a welcoming and encouraging attitude with the skaters and parents.
- Represent the Everett Community Ice Rink positively and professionally—on and off the ice.
- Support facility events, shows, exhibitions, camps, community programming, and other activities as needed.
- Attend coach meetings and required training.
- Enforce on-ice and off-ice policies and uphold facility standards.
- Demonstrate a consistent commitment to safety by actively monitoring participants, identifying potential hazards, and following all facility and program safety protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of coaching or instructional experience required.
- Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of on-ice instruction, including skating and demonstrating skills for the duration of scheduled sessions.
- Current Learn to Skate USA Instructor Membership (or able to obtain prior to start date)
- Current SafeSport certification (or able to obtain prior to start date)
- Demonstrated skating proficiency in figure skating and/or ice hockey.
- Availability to work scheduled classes, special events, and program needs, including evenings and weekends as required.
- Positive, enthusiastic, and motivating teaching style with effective class management skills.
- Able to communicate effectively with skaters, parents, and staff.
- Time management skills that provide reliable and consistent attendance.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and individually.
- Current USFS or USA Hockey Coach Compliance
- Figure Skating: Experience teaching Aspire, Free Skate, and competitive-level skaters.
- Experience with off-ice training (ex. jump conditioning, flexibility, strength, and/or other skating-specific conditioning)
