Overview
The Restaurant Steward is responsible for ensuring all glassware, flatware, china, and serving equipment are cleaned, polished, inspected, and prepared for service. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the presentation standards of the restaurant by providing service-ready items for front-of-house operations. The Restaurant Polisher works closely with the stewarding, culinary, and restaurant teams to support efficient service while maintaining cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards.
This role pays an hourly rate of $19.00.

Responsibilities
- Polish glassware, flatware, china, and serving pieces to ensure they are spotless, free of water spots, fingerprints, and streaks.
- Inspect all service ware for cleanliness, chips, cracks, or damage and remove defective items from service.
- Sort, organize, and stock polished items in designated storage and service areas.
- Maintain adequate inventory levels of polished service ware to support restaurant operations.
- Assist with transporting clean dishes, glassware, and flatware from the dish room to designated storage locations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the polishing station and surrounding work areas.
- Follow proper sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety procedures.
- Operate polishing equipment and tools safely, when applicable.
- Support the stewarding team with dishwashing, storage, and kitchen support duties as needed.
- Assist with banquet and special event preparation by polishing and organizing large quantities of service ware.
- Report damaged equipment or inventory shortages to supervisors.
- Maintain proper handling and storage of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Work collaboratively with restaurant, banquet, stewarding, and culinary teams to ensure operational readiness.
- Perform opening, closing, and side work duties as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, banquet, stewarding, or hospitality environment preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Food Handler Certification required (or ability to obtain within the required timeframe).
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects.
- Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and repetitive hand and wrist movements.
- Ability to safely handle glassware, china, flatware, and cleaning equipment.
