Overview

The Public Safety Supervisor will assist with the supervision and coordination of the activities and operations of security; to serve as facility Safety Officer; and to provide highly responsible staff assistance to the Events team.

 

This role will pay a rate of $18.00 to $19.00

Responsibilities

  • Responsible in assisting the Public Safety Manager for all services and activities involved in facility and event security.
  • Assist in coordinating function of event security in conjunction with client’s security personnel.
  • Responsible in assisting the Public Safety Manager of any outside, temporary security labor used by the Convention Center.
  • Coordinate the ordering, scheduling, sign-in and verification of hours worked for these temporary labor security agents. 
  • Coordinate the placement and training of these laborers and generally supervise their work.
  • Assist Public Safety Manager with the development and implementation of facility Emergency Preparedness Policies and Procedures. 
  • Establish training programs and practice drills to ensure staff understanding of procedures.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of assigned programs and functions.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of operational policies and procedures as related to areas of responsibility. 
  • Recommend policy and procedure enhancements to Public Safety Manager.
  • Select, train, motivate and evaluate staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies.
  • Provide information and recommendations to Public Safety Manager for the development and administration of the Security department annual budget related to staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Recommend modifications to security and employee safety programs, policies, and procedures as appropriate.
  • Perform related tasks as assigned by Public Safety Manager.
  • Inspect the building for inventory out of place & report or correct the condition.
  • Check room sets & report any issues that need attention.
  • Create & develop a workplace Safety Committee.
  • Research, analyze, and evaluate new service delivery methods, procedures and techniques.
  • Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Possess demonstrable experience with the characteristics, services and activities of public facility security and safety programs.
  • Crowd management and control techniques.
  • Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation.
  • Working knowledge of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work varied shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays) in order to perform above duties with and amongst all employees of the department and during all types of events.
