Prep Cook | Seasonal Part-Time | University of Utah (Ken Garff University Club)
Overview
The seasonal Prep Cook is responsible for preparing menu items and assisting with daily kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment at the Ken Garff University Club at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The Prep Cook will maintain high standards for food quality, portion control, sanitation, and food safety while supporting both regular Club operations and high-volume University of Utah home game days. This seasonal position provides additional kitchen support during the football season, with an emphasis on game day preparation and service. Responsibilities may include assisting with carving stations, chef activations, food displays, and other game day culinary needs. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can maintain quality and efficiency during high-volume events.
This role will pay an hourly rate of $19.00 - $22.00
This is a seasonal role from September 1, 2026, and will end on December 31, 2026.
This position will remain open until November 20, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for cooking and packaging food products, which are prepared to order or kept warm until sold.
- Prepare food items according to recipes, portion standards, and Club specifications.
- Provide additional culinary support during University of Utah home football games.
- Receives orders from the front counter staff for food product requirements for guest orders.
- Responsible for maintaining quality and production standards on all menu items. Food must be fresh and of high quality when served to the guests.
- Responsible for portion control and serving temperatures of all products served in the concession stand.
- Responsible for cleaning, stocking, and restocking of workstations and displays.
- Responsible for operating large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, and ovens.
- Ensures that all work areas and equipment are clean, food products are properly stored, utensils are clean and put away, and the floor is swept and mopped at the end of the shift.
- Check out with the floor supervisor before ending the shift to ensure the concession stand meets cleanliness standards.
- Maintains sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
- Assist with carving stations, chef activations, and other game day food service needs.
- Show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance.
- Work effectively as part of a team in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a prep cook is a plus.
- Availability to work all of the following game days—September 3rd, 12th, and 19th; October 10th and 24th; November 7th and 27th; and December 31st—is highly preferred.
- Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner that focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
- Possess a valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations.
- Ability to carry/lift heavy objects.
