Overview

A prep cook plays a crucial role in the kitchen by assisting in the preparation of ingredients and basic cooking tasks. They support the kitchen team by ensuring that all necessary items are ready for chefs to create delicious dishes. This role demands attention to detail, efficiency, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

 

This role will pay a daily wage of $300.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and measuring ingredients.
  • Assist in cooking tasks such as marinating, seasoning, and grilling as directed by the chef.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station, including proper storage of ingredients and utensils.
  • Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures to ensure a hygienic kitchen environment.
  • Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, checking for quality and freshness of ingredients.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of food orders.
  • Adhere to recipes and portion sizes to maintain consistency in food quality.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or replenishment needs to the kitchen manager.
  • Assist in cleaning kitchen equipment and utensils as needed.
  • Follow all kitchen policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a kitchen environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food preparation methods.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Culinary training or certification is a plus but not required.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and take direction from senior kitchen staff.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
