Overview

The Palm Beach County Convention Center is seeking a dependable and professional Overnight Parking Garage Security Officer to help maintain a safe, secure, and orderly environment throughout the parking garage and surrounding areas during overnight hours. This position is responsible for monitoring the parking facilities, conducting routine patrols, maintaining a visible security presence, and assisting guests, employees, and visitors with parking-related concerns. The Overnight Parking Garage Security Officer will also troubleshoot common parking issues and coordinate with the appropriate personnel when additional assistance is required. The ideal candidate is reliable, attentive, professional, and comfortable working independently during overnight hours. The ability to exercise sound judgment, resolve problems, and provide excellent customer service is essential.

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $16.00

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the parking garage, entrances, exits, elevators, stairwells, and surrounding areas for safety and security concerns.
  • Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols of assigned areas.
  • Maintain a visible security presence throughout the overnight shift.
  • Assist guests, employees, vendors, and visitors with parking-related questions and concerns.
  • Troubleshoot common parking issues, including access, parking tickets, payment concerns, gates, and vehicle entry/exit problems.
  • Respond to parking equipment issues and contact appropriate personnel or vendors when additional assistance is needed.
  • Monitor security cameras and report suspicious activity, safety hazards, property damage, or other unusual conditions.
  • Respond appropriately to alarms, incidents, disturbances, accidents, and emergencies according to established procedures.
  • Assist motorists experiencing parking or access-related difficulties when appropriate and within established procedures.
  • Enforce parking rules and facility policies in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Document incidents, parking issues, maintenance concerns, and other relevant activity in security logs and daily reports.
  • Communicate important overnight issues to supervisors and incoming staff.
  • Monitor the condition of doors, gates, lighting, elevators, signage, and other facility features that may affect safety and security.
  • Contact law enforcement, emergency services, maintenance, parking operations, or management when necessary.
  • Protect convention center property and report unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, or other security concerns.
  • Provide professional customer service while maintaining appropriate security standards.
  • Perform other related security, parking, and facility-support duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in security, parking operations, hospitality, customer service, facilities, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to work independently during overnight hours with limited direct supervision.
  • Strong observation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic parking, gate, ticketing, and access-control issues.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong customer-service skills and the ability to interact professionally with guests and employees.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with difficult or unexpected situations.
  • Ability to accurately document incidents and communicate important information to supervisors.
  • Dependable, punctual, and willing to work an overnight schedule.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while conducting routine patrols.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and safety concerns.
  • Basic computer skills required; familiarity with security cameras, access-control systems, or parking equipment is a plus.
  • Must meet applicable Florida requirements for employment as a security officer, including any required licensing or credentials.
