Overview
The Marketing Specialist, AHL, plays a key role in building, launching, and growing the brand of professional hockey in Hamilton. Working as a close partner to the Director, Marketing—Sports, this role helps translate strategy into action, delivering campaigns, promotions, and fan-facing initiatives that drive ticket sales, build community connection, and establish a strong, credible team identity. This is a rare opportunity to help shape a team brand from the ground up. From the first puck drop to marquee moments throughout the season, this role is deeply involved in how fans experience the team in the arena, in the community, and across every marketing touchpoint.
This role pays an annual salary of $50,000 CAD

Responsibilities
- Support the Hockey Marketing Strategy & Execution
- Work in close partnership with the Director, Marketing – Sports to develop and execute the overall hockey marketing strategy
- Translate strategic direction into integrated marketing campaigns and tactical execution
- Support season-long planning as well as short-term campaign and game-day initiatives
- Ensure all hockey marketing activity is aligned with brand standards and organizational goals
- Team Brand Building & Fan Engagement
- Play an active role in shaping and evolving the hockey team’s brand identity
- Support storytelling that builds emotional connection between the team and its fans
- Help develop and execute initiatives that establish the team as a meaningful part of the Hamilton community
- Contribute ideas that enhance the fan experience and grow long-term loyalty
- Ticket Sales & Revenue Support
- Collaborate closely with ticketing and sales teams to support ticket revenue objectives
- Execute marketing campaigns for season tickets, single-game tickets, and group sales
- Track and support reporting on campaign performance and results
- Promotions, Events & Activations
- Support the planning and execution of theme nights, promotions, and in-arena activations
- Coordinate marketing support for community, foundation, and partnership initiatives tied to hockey
- Assist with player appearances, special events, and fan-facing activations
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Social Media, Communications, Digital, Creative, Retail, and Game Presentation teams
- Ensure alignment across channels and touchpoints
- Coordinate timelines, approvals, and execution across internal teams and external partners
- Planning & Operations
- Support budget tracking, invoicing, and campaign documentation
- Maintain marketing calendars, assets, and recaps
- Contribute insights and learnings to continuously improve hockey marketing efforts
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 2–3+ years of experience in marketing, ideally in sports, entertainment, or live events
- Experience executing integrated marketing campaigns
- Experience working in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Ability to translate strategy into execution
- Confident communicator and collaborator
- Creative thinker with a strong understanding of sports fans
- Comfortable juggling multiple priorities in a live-event environment
