Overview
The Manager, Communications & Community Relations plays a key role in shaping how our organization shows up publicly across professional hockey, live entertainment, and venue operations. From major concerts and game nights to community moments and breaking news, this role helps tell the stories that define the venue and connect with fans, partners, and the broader community.
This role pays an annual salary of $55,000-$70,000 CAD.

Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day media relations across hockey, live entertainment, and venue operations (TD Coliseum, FirstOntario Concert Hall, The Studio).
- Serve as the primary contact for media inquiries and requests.
- Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and statements.
- Coordinate interviews, media access, and press events as required.
- Support the development and execution of communications plans aligned with marketing and business priorities.
- Ensure messaging is accurate, consistent, and aligned across platforms.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Brand, Digital, and Social teams to support integrated campaigns and storytelling.
- Assist with executive and organizational messaging as needed.
- Liaise with OVG corporate communications to align with overarching company communications strategies.
- Support issue management and crisis communications under the direction of the Senior Director, Marketing.
- Prepare holding statements, key messages, and briefing materials.
- Monitor media coverage and flag potential reputational risks.
- Coordinate communications with league offices, teams, promoters, and external partners as required.
- Support internal communications initiatives related to events, announcements, and organizational updates.
- Ensure communications align with league policies and contractual requirements.
- Lead community engagement efforts across hockey, concerts, and venue events.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for community outreach requests and partnerships.
- Build relationships with local organizations, schools, and non-profits.
- Support community-based ticketing initiatives, group sales efforts, and outreach programs.
- Help define how the organization shows up in the community in a consistent and meaningful way.
- Coordinate and manage player appearances and community engagements.
- Work closely with Hockey Operations, Marketing, and external partners.
- Ensure appearances are well-organized, impactful, and aligned with brand priorities.
- Support artist or talent-related community initiatives when applicable.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or media relations roles.
- Experience managing media relationships and securing earned media coverage.
- Experience in sports, live entertainment, or venue operations is considered an asset but not required.
- Experience working in fast-paced or high-visibility environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with media and internal stakeholders.
- Sound judgment and the ability to remain calm in time-sensitive situations.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Collaborative mindset and comfort working across departments.
