Line Cook | Part-Time | Saint John Trade & Convention Centre
Overview
We are looking for a professional Line Cook to be in our kitchen, following our Executive Chef’s specifications and guidelines. The successful candidate will employ their culinary skills in order to play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our customers’ satisfaction. This is a key position for the effective and profitable operation of the business. The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work a variable event-driven schedule that includes evenings and weekends. Open availability, professional presentation, outstanding interpersonal skills, self-direction, and strong independent decision-making skills are required.
This role pays an hourly rate of $19.00 - $22.00 CAD
Benefits for Part-Time roles: Pension matching.
This position will remain open until November 27, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Helping in the preparation and design of all food and drinks menus
- Ensuring that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets our quality standards
- Produce high-quality plates both design- and taste-wise
- Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation
- Stock inventory appropriately
- Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
- Other duties as assigned by Executive Chef
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in a professional kitchen environment
- Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Technical proficiency and experience demonstrating verifiable knowledge of food preparation methods.
- Ability to positively interact with diverse personalities, including co-workers, subordinates, guests, and purveyors in a variety of work situations.
- Must have effective communication skills.
- Ability to be detail-oriented, multitask, and effectively prioritize in a continuously changing environment.
- Ability to be self-directed while working in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule; able and willing to work nights, weekends, and long hours.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach out.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects.
- Ability to work closely with kitchen staff but also able to be self-motivated and cook alone as needed.
- General knowledge for the health and safety of patrons and staff.
- Must maintain a high level of concentration and comprehend detailed directions.
- Must be able to multi-task.
