Overview

The Janitorial Lead is responsible for the routine cleanliness of the facility, in addition will assist in set-up, show care and clean-up of events. This is a hands-on lead position scheduled primarily during daytime hours, including weekends. While the core shift is days, flexibility is essential—candidates must be prepared to cover busy periods, vacations, and staff absences as needed. This role is essential to ensuring consistent operational quality and staff performance—especially during peak demand or when unplanned absences occur. By leading from the front, you’ll foster a cohesive, responsive team environment.

 

Position: Working Lead – Day Shifts (Includes Weekends)

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $17.00-$23.00

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a small team of 2–6 staff members during shifts.
  • Actively work on the floor alongside team members, providing support and guidance.
  • Allocate tasks, monitor performance, and ensure smooth, efficient operations.
  • Manage coverage and shift adjustments during peak times, call-offs, and holiday periods.
  • Communicate effectively with both staff and management to relay updates, resolve issues, and improve workflows.
  • Confer daily with Facilities Manager or Operations Coordinators to review and receive assignments.
  • Be a key player in keeping facilities clean & beautiful.
  • Regularly check restroom cleanliness and supplies.
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks from checklists and sign off tasks as they are completed.
  • Note and report any building components in need of repair.
  • Daily inspection of areas of responsibility.
  • Assist other department personnel as deemed necessary.
  • Carry a radio to communicate needs of events with other personnel.
  • Clean and set rooms in accordance with the Operation’s procedures.
  • Adequately perform post-event cleanup and trash removal.
  • Operate an assortment of equipment including: buffers/burnishers, rider sweepers/scrubbers, walk behind scrubbers, blowers, vacuums, snow removal equipment and others as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients.

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership ability; prior experience in a supervisory or team lead role is highly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to clearly direct and motivate staff.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability, adaptability to changing situations, and willingness to pitch in as needed.
  • Reliable, flexible, and committed to maintaining consistent coverage across all shifts, including weekends.
  • Must be constantly aware of changing events, such as staff or supply shortages.
  • Work from general instructions and specifications, with minimal supervision.
  • Work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.
  • Ability to respond calmly to public concerns; must be accountable and responsible.
