Overview
The Ice Operations Manager will manage every aspect of events and operations in the facility from the setup of event through the end of the event; position will work with third parties to recruit, train, motivate, and evaluate all operations and housekeeping staff; coordinate communication between every department and delegate assignments; be responsible for and ensure overall upkeep of facility. Position will manage all aspects of both ice rinks, including scheduling staff and training.
This role pays an annual salary of $68,000- $78,000

Responsibilities
- Manage and develop operating procedures that conform to corporate standards specific to the operations department at the Port Wentworth Ice Cove and Amphitheater.
- Oversee day-to-day building operations, maintenance, special projects. Plans and coordinates a variety of facility set-ups including ice hockey matches, youth skates, college hockey, family shows, concerts, comedy shows, sports and trade show configurations.
- Overseeing part time operations staff members for facility setup, maintenance and ice installation.
- Leading full-time staff members as needed with venue maintenance and setups
- Oversee facility maintenance program and development of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Train all employees on forklift and scissor lift operation, Zamboni resurfacing, fire/life safety and emergency procedures.
- Oversees all purchases of safety equipment, housekeeping and operational supplies for third party vendors.
- Present operations department reviews in weekly staff
- Develop and maintain working relationships with all departments.
- Know and guarantee all laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules/regulations and emergency procedures are followed.
- Maintains and oversee departmental equipment; notify Director of Production as additional equipment is needed and schedules services required.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget and recommend an annual capital budget for long-range repairs and improvements to the facility.
- Oversee and monitor all ice events, conversion and housekeeping crews, provide team support as required. Ensuring proper scheduling of third-party employees, event setups and event days
- Assist event manager with rider specifications, ensuring all setups are completed and set to specifications in data sheets.
- Investigate, analyze, and resolve operational problems and complaints.
- Act as liaison between clients and facility contractors as needed.
- Deliver timely and accurate information to operations staff for proper setup and ice maintenance at each facility.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues, including Zamboni, forklift, floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners and lawn equipment.
- Preventative maintenance of Zamboni’s and blade changes.
- Oversee all production equipment, including maintenance and repair as necessary
- Ensure preventative maintenance of all facility equipment
- Oversee event load ins and load outs that are typically early in the mornings and/or late into the evening
- Works with third party vendors and operations managers to upkeep star dressing rooms, locker rooms and painting of interior spaces in facility.
- Assist as needed in Ice installation, maintenance, operations, and coordination across all OVG Savannah properties including Enmarket Arena, Johnny Mercer Theatre and any future projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or technical degree from an accredited college, university, or trade school required.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in arena or entertainment venue operations, including facility and event management.
- Supervisory or management experience within the public assembly industry required.
- Demonstrated experience leading, training, and managing teams.
- Working knowledge of operational procedures, facility capabilities, event services, technical requirements, crowd management, and fire/public safety regulations.
- Experience in a hockey facility required, including ice installation, operation of zamboni and ice edger equipment, and knowledge of NHL/AHL/ECHL rules, regulations, and standards.
- Production experience supporting concerts, basketball, hockey, and special events preferred.
- Ability to operate equipment such as zamboni, forklifts, pallet jacks, boom lifts, scrubbers, and other light power-driven machinery.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard office equipment.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended consecutive days as required by event operations.
