Overview
Under the direction of the Working Facility Supervisor, the casual Facility Utility Workers will perform various event setup/take-down, janitorial, housekeeping, and operations tasks.
This role pays an hourly rate of $23.48 CAD (per CBA).
Benefits as per the union agreement.
This position will remain open until December 18, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Perform tasks to keep the facility, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment in good shape.
- Set up and tear down of facility equipment for events, ensuring compliance with event work orders and event needs.
- Work from general instructions and specifications, with minimal supervision.
- Ensure that the building’s cleanliness, interior and exterior, and day-to-day janitorial needs are met and maintained.
- Operate floor scrubbers, janitorial, and other equipment as required in the performance of their duties. May be required to operate a forklift/high lift if certified.
- Assist other operational departments under their guidance as required in the repair and maintenance of the building and its equipment or performance of their duties.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work—staff, contractors, and facility users.
- Work effectively in a service-oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.
- Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended work days and extended numbers of days
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience in working at a multi-use facility.
- High school diploma or equivalent GED.
- Possession of or the ability to obtain a current CPR certificate.
- Possession of or the ability to obtain a valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of customer services practices.
- Forklift certification is preferred.
