Overview
Under the direction of the Working Facility Supervisor, the Facility Utility Worker performs various event set up/take down, janitorial, housekeeping, and operations tasks. This position will be applicable for 10 months, September through June, guaranteed at 20 hours per week. During the months of July and August, these positions, based on seniority, will be placed at the top of the casual work call-in list as work arises.
This role pays an hourly rate of $23.48 CAD (per CBA)
Benefits as per the union agreement.
This position will remain open until July 24th, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Perform tasks to keep the facility, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment in good shape.
- Set up and tear down of facility equipment for events, ensuring compliance with event work orders and event needs.
- Work from general instructions and specifications, with minimal supervision.
- Ensure that the building’s cleanliness, interior and exterior, and the day-to-day janitorial needs are met and maintained.
- Operate forklifts, high lifts, floor scrubbers, janitorial tools, and other equipment as required in the performance of their duties.
- Assist other operational departments under their guidance as required in the repair and maintenance of the building and its equipment or the performance of their duties.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work—staff, contractors, and facility users.
- Work effectively in a service-oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience in working at a multi-use facility.
- High school diploma or equivalent GED.
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a current CPR certificate.
- Knowledge of customer services practices.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, extended workdays, and extended numbers of days.
