Overview
The Events Internship position is based at our Ford Idaho Center location.
Internship Structure and Expectations
- Internships are expected to be a 3-4 month (Summer) commitment. This allows the student to experience the venue through multiple event cycles.
- Internships are considered part time with a varied weekly schedule requiring an estimated 20-30 hours per week depending on events.
- Learning agenda will include all aspects of event management including advance, guest services, operations, administration, and parking.
- Interns will engage in weekly calls discussing various venue managment topics.
Phases of internship are evaluated as follows: Orientation & training à Observation, learning, and practice à Implementation of skills and tasks à Development and improvement à Review, feedback, and assessment.
This role will pay an hourly wage of $14.00.

Responsibilities
- Assist Event Managers during events at the Ford Idaho Center to ensure high level of guest satisfaction in all pertinent areas of event experience
- Assists in the planning, assignments and direct workload for all Guest Services, Security, and Parking staff
- Be present for majority of events that have part-time staff
- Assist internal and external clients with event logistics and suggest the most effective ways to use the facility for specific types of functions.
- Help create work schedules for event and security staff, delegate assignments and review performance and results
- Work with Event Managers to develop staffing plans, dot maps, deployment sheets, and any other associated pieces related to staffing
- Engage and participate in weekly calls with OVG executives to learn about OVG and the sports and entertainment industry
- Supervise part-time event and security staff on event days.
- Communicate in a timely fashion any/all problems and proposed solutions to Event Managers.
- Prepare event reports noting attendance, times, significant problems, etc.
- Interact with other facility staff in a courteous, cooperative, and professional manner.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients.
- All other duties as assigned by the Events Department

Education and Experience:
- Actively pursuing an undergraduate or a graduate degree at an accredited college or university, preferably in Event Management, Hospitality Management, Sport Management, Business, or related fields.
- Interest/Experience with live events is preferred but not required.
