Overview

The Events Intern will assist the Events Department in coordination, execution, and completion of various events held at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center. The intern will also assist with part-time staff hiring, scheduling, deployment, and supervising during events. The internship will consist of approximately 24 hours a week with days and times varying depending on the event schedule. Interns are required to work select events and activities that occur on certain days, evenings and weekends.

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $15.75

 

This role is expected to last from September 8, 2026 and will end on December 11th, 2026.

 

This position will remain open until June 12, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • ­­­­Assist Event Managers in coordinating various types of events, including but not limited to, meetings, banquets, trade shows, FSU basketball, concerts, and graduations.
  • Assist Events Department in management of part time staff including scheduling, deployment for events and supervising.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by management.
  • Maintain Inventory of all department Supplies: Staff Shirts, Radios, wristbands, etc.
  • Attend departmental and building meetings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Learnings:

  • Understanding the full event planning life cycle by seeing the process of how events get produced from start to finish.
  • Creating detailed schedules that outline what happens before, during, and after the event for it to be successful.
  • Develop skills in event setup, guest experience, and troubleshooting during live events.
  • Learning how to quickly anticipate and resolve potential problems in an organized and commmunicative manner.
  • Learning how to interact with clients, vendors, and other professionals in a multitude of environments.
  • Working within a team and understand how to collaborate and communicate effectively with multiple departments.

Qualifications

  • Must be a college junior, senior or graduate student
  • Recommended for Sport Management, Business, Hospitality Majors or related fields.
  • Campus Leadership experience is a plus
  • Availability to work 24 hours a week, including evenings and weekends
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing is required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to function and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Must demonstrate a positive, professional and customer-focused attitude
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
