Overview

The Events Chef leads the culinary execution of catered events, creating customized menus that reflect client preferences and dietary needs. This role oversees all aspects of food preparation, cooking, and presentation while ensuring high standards of quality and consistency. The Events Chef supervises kitchen staff, delegates tasks, and ensures timely, organized service in fast-paced environments. Strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to problem-solve under pressure are essential. The position requires advanced culinary expertise, creativity in food presentation, and a polished professional demeanor. 

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $27.00 - $30.00.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing menus for events based on client preferences and dietary restrictions.
  • Support the preparation and cooking of food for banquets and events.
  • Monitoring food portions and ensuring that each plate is prepared correctly.
  • Inspecting food before it is served to ensure that it meets quality standards. 
  • Consistently present and on time for scheduled events.
  • Thorough preparation and detailed knowledge of event requirements.
  • Focused and organized on food preparation and timely execution.
  • Always presenting a polished appearance and a confident leadership demeanor.
  • Support BOH staff at events, and work as model support staff as needed. 
  • Plan detailed staff assignments, event execution, and meeting timelines. 
  • Provide clear instructions for assignments and timeline. 
  • Provide staff execution, support, and guiding and teaching on-site. 
  • Support a safe truck unload, direct equipment organization, and create an efficient, clean, and organized work area. 
  • Uphold a high level of expectations, company standards, and procedures to elevate the team’s effectiveness and execution of service. 
  • Ensure proper cleanliness and sanitary practices are followed. 
  • Ensure that all food is handled, prepared, and served in compliance with a high level of food quality and safety. 
  • Ensure that all equipment is used properly, taken care of, and returned back to the shop. 
  • Making sure our team takes great care of the physical venue and any used equipment and is a respectful and courteous partner with venue staff and fellow vendors. 
  • Execute an efficient breakdown and safe loadout. 
  • Complete detailed event evaluations, and communicate staff performance concerns as needed. 
  • Support accurate time punches being submitted for event staff. 
  • Maintain awareness of the entire BOH operation during service and adjust assignments as needed.
  • Work closely with FOH/event leadership to ensure timing and execution stay aligned.
  • Be able to independently lead an assigned event with limited supervision.

Qualifications

  • 1-2+ years of previous experience in an event-based kitchen position.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to help the team move equipment (ability to lift, move, push, and pull heavy objects).
  • Possess effective communication skills, planning, and time management.
  • Have strong culinary knowledge and elevated catering experience.
  • Have a strong sense of food art and have the ability to execute elevated presentations.
  • Ability to be innovative, problem-solve, and overcome obstacles.
