Overview
Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Operations, the Part-Time Electrician performs journeyman-level electrical and lead worker duties supporting the installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and breakdown of show power, shore power, and temporary electrical distribution systems for the Ryan Center and Boss Ice Arena. This role primarily supports concerts, athletic events, exhibits, and other live venue activities. The position also assists with electrical projects, troubleshooting, and repairs as needed to ensure event readiness and safe facility operations. At times, this position may assist with general maintenance tasks such as basic plumbing, painting, carpentry, trades support, and groundskeeping. Work hours are scheduled based on event and venue needs and may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts. This is not a full-time facility maintenance position and does not carry primary responsibility for daily building systems.
This role will pay an hourly rate of $60.00

Responsibilities
- Communicate clearly and timely with Operations and Facilities staff regarding work issues, priorities, and status updates.
- Install, operate, monitor, and dismantle show power, shore power, and temporary electrical distribution systems for events and venue configurations.
- Coordinate temporary power needs for event production, broadcast, vendors, and athletic operations.
- Ensure all temporary and event-related electrical systems comply with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and venue requirements.
- Inspect, test, maintain, and repair event-related electrical cords, cables, connectors, and power distribution equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve power issues during live events to minimize operational disruptions.
- Provide on-site electrical support before, during, and after events.
- Assist with electrical repairs or upgrades related to event readiness as required.
- Support event setup and breakdown activities, including but not limited to electrical services.
- Maintain required clearances around electrical panels, transformers, switchgear, and related infrastructure.
- Train and support operations staff on electrical requirements and best practices for event operations.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal departments, clients, promoters, vendors, and external partners.
- Repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits, fixtures, and equipment using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
- Diagnose electrical defects, including short circuits, loose connections, damaged wiring, and worn components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and manufacturer documentation.
- Safely operate maintenance and access equipment, including forklifts and scissor lifts.
- Perform all duties in accordance with safety standards, facility goals, and energy conservation practices.
- Perform additional duties as required to support venue and event operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Completion of a five-year electrical apprenticeship program.
- Valid Journeyman Electrician license required; Master Electrician license highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience with temporary power, show power, or event-based electrical systems.
- Experience with maintenance and repair of electrical power generating equipment and auxiliary systems preferred.
