Overview
Based out of Oshawa’s Tribute Communities Centre, and reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Finance and Administration will be responsible for the accounting, business, and Human Resources functions at The Tribute Communities Centre. The Director of Finance and Administration is an in-office position that will be responsible for preparing the monthly financial statements and all aspects of full cycle accounting including but not limited to budget preparation, AP/AR, variance analysis, event settlements, reconciliations of accounts, and payroll.
This role pays an annual salary of $110,000-$125,000 CAD and is bonus eligible.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for all general accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and facility rental revenue recognition.
- Responsible for all financial matters relating to the Facility Operation (including leases) and Management Agreement as well as the agreement with the tenant teams including but not limited to the Oshawa Generals.
- Responsible for payroll for all salaried and hourly employees.
- Monitor accounts receivable and assist other departments with follow up of overdue balances.
- Reconcile bank statements and prepare bank deposits as necessary.
- Complete required Federal and Provincial Government periodic returns accurately and within strict adherence to due dates as imposed by legislation.
- Record all business transactions, process accruals and adjustments, reconcile accounts, and prepare monthly financial statements.
- Monitor accounts payable to ensure that purchases and expenditures are within budget and in accordance with Oak View Group policies.
- Keep abreast of federal, provincial and municipal developments, and any laws or policies that may affect the financial operation of the organization.
- Complete fiscal year-end adjustments.
- Ensure insurance requirements are being met.
- Coordinate the annual budget process and present before all stakeholders.
- Responsible for Human Resource Functions including policies, records, and requirements.
- Hire, train, direct, and supervise the Staff Accountant, Finance Assistant, and Administrative Assistant.
- Prepare for and be the lead contact in the annual audit.
- Execute event invoicing and liaising with the events team to record deposits/settlements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by The General Manager.
Qualifications
- A degree/diploma from a post secondary institution in accounting or business or a related field.
- Possession of a CPA designation is preferred; working towards a CPA designation is a minimum.
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in Financial Management, or related field.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience within a financial setting.
- Experience in the venue or event management industry preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of HST and payroll deduction requirements.
- Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills that promote mutually beneficial, respectful and professional relationships.
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral, within all levels of an organization.
- Ability to adapt to and learn new software.
- Experience with Net Suite, Coupa and ADP preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Able to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently.
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons or facts.
- Available to work evenings and weekends as necessary based on event schedules.
- Deadline driven and able to complete financial reports on a timely basis.
- Superior organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills.
- Attention to detail in all areas of work.
- Ability to oversee, interpret, and implement Oak View Group policies and amend policies where necessary.
