Overview
The Cook works in a team environment to prepare all types of food items for the buffet. The Cook must adhere to high food quality standards to ensure guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing high quality, fresh food items using standardized recipes and methods of preparation, as directed by other kitchen team members.
- Maintains responsibility for kitchen and personal safety and sanitation, as well as care of kitchen equipment.
- Operates a broad range of kitchen equipment including stoves, broilers, deep fryers and other food prep equipment, and uses hand tools, knives, and other related small wares.
- Replenishes prep line food items as necessary to ensure proper presentation and availability for guests.
- Responds properly to guest preferences and concerns by communicating in a positive, respectful manner to both internal and external guests.
- Ensures proper food storage and food serving temperatures.
- Must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work events and varied schedules including weekends and holidays per business need.
- Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.
- Works well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, business-like and respectful manner which focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
- Possess valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations.
- Professional training through a culinary education or working in a fast-paced high-volume restaurant/catering facility, full service casual dining preferred.
- High School Diploma, G.E.D. or related Food Service Job Experience.
- All employees must obtain a valid gaming license from the State Gaming Agency and Tribal Gaming Office prior to beginning work and are required to have license renewed as required by the State Gmaing Agency.
