Overview
The Catering Server is responsible for delivering high-quality food and beverage service during conferences, banquets, business meetings, and other hosted events. This position plays a key role in creating a professional and welcoming experience for guests while maintaining service standards and event timelines.
This role pays an hourly rate of $22.00-$25.00 CAD

Responsibilities
- Provide professional, courteous food and beverage service at catered events, banquets, meetings, and receptions
- Set up and break down buffets, plated service, bars, and food stations according to event orders and floor plans
- Serve food and beverages in accordance with service standards, timing, and presentation guidelines
- Assist with table setting, including linens, china, glassware, flatware, and décor elements
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of service areas throughout the event
- Monitor guest needs and respond promptly to requests, questions, and concerns
- Follow all food safety, alcohol service, and health & safety regulations
- Communicate effectively with captains, supervisors, culinary teams, and fellow servers
- Assist with replenishment of food and beverage stations during service
- Clear tables, manage dishware, and support post-event cleanup and breakdown
- Represent the organization in a professional, guest-focused manner at all times
- Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure successful event execution
Qualifications
- Previous experience in catering, banquets, restaurants, or hospitality is an asset
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume event environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow service standards, timing, and supervisor direction
- Comfortable performing plated, buffet, and reception-style service
- Physically able to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 25–50 lbs
- Professional appearance and attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual, and maintains a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, early mornings, and event days
- Smart Serve Certification (or willingness to obtain)
