Box Office Manager | Full-Time | Chartway Arena @ Old Dominion University
Overview
The Box Office Manager will provide Chartway Arena, SB Ballard Stadium, and athletic ticketed events with comprehensive daily/event management and ticketing services. Primary responsibilities include providing operational oversight of the box office/staff, venue-specific information to clients, event submissions and builds, event financials, ongoing event administration, box office operations, hiring staff, supervising staff, day-of-show/game oversight, and settlement. Product specialization will include Paciolian. The position is to be a key contributor to the ticketing team and report to the Director of Ticketing and marketing.
This role will pay an annual salary of $56,000 to $60,000

Responsibilities
- Oversee part-time ticketing staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, and payroll.
- Manage the box office for the venue(s) and its clients.
- Assist in building all facets of events in the Paciolan ticketing system.
- Develop and maintain excellent client/customer relationships.
- Update and relay all box-office-related event information to each department and client.
- Investigate and resolve ticket-related issues.
- Supervise and oversee financial settlements related to sellers and seller recaps.
- Responsible for all payment handling and box office controls.
- Process financial reconciliation such as daily reports, event statements, and monthly reports.
- Assist in the maintenance of the ODU Athletic ticket operations, customer relations, and game day box office management for all ticketed sports, including football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and baseball.
- Oversee the maintenance and reporting of the AM Monitor ticket scanners.
- Analyze challenges, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of organizational objectives.
- Assist with implementation of season ticket timelines for ODU football and basketball, including preseason renewals, promotion of new sales, seat allocations, compliance, ticket printing, packaging, and delivery.
- Assist ODU Athletics with reporting needs, processing, and ensuring the proper use of the ticketing system.
- Create and provide sales reports/ticket revenue updates.
- Work with sales and marketing departments to set up various ticket discounts and promotions.
- Oversee Will Call for all ticketed events, ensuring compliance with all relevant ticket laws.
- Process/fill approved comp and charity ticket requests; document all complimentary tickets issued.
- Track attendance for all events, including pre-sales, walk-ups, promotions, discounts, etc.
- Provide initial venue-specific information to promoters, such as venue specs and requirements, scalings, and financials.
- Manage day-of-show box office support for the venue, promoter, and customers with night-of-show settlement and reporting as required.
- Use troubleshooting techniques and tools to identify the root cause of issues, including the research of client/customer complaints about service levels.
- Serve as manager on duty for assigned events and shows.
- Collaborate with venue teams, such as Finance, Marketing, Premium Sales & Service, Front of House, Operations, and Events.
- Multitask and handle multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business management, sports management, business administration, or other related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of increasingly responsible box office/ticketing experience, preferably at a sports facility, convention center, performing arts facility, or other multi-purpose public assembly facility.
- Knowledge of operational characteristics, services, and activities of stadium, arena, public assembly facility, or convention center sales programs.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, graphic design, PowerPoint, and Internet software.
- Familiarity with Paciolian ticketing software.
- Knowledge of terminology used in box office/sales settings.
- Knowledge of principles of budget preparation and control.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended (long) workdays, and an extended number of days, depending on the event schedule.
