Overview
The Banquet Server provides high-quality food and beverage service at events hosted primarily in the facility’s convention center spaces. This role requires flexibility, professionalism, and strong customer service skills across a wide range of service styles from plated dinners and buffets to cocktail receptions. General duties include, but are not limited to: preparing rooms and equipment for service, handling food and beverage, ensuring guest satisfaction, and resetting the space for the next function.
This role will pay an hourly rate of $12.00-$16.00 and is tip eligible

Responsibilities
- Set up banquet rooms and event spaces according to event orders, including linens, china, and service stations
- Prepare and stock service areas with necessary supplies, beverages, and equipment before events begin
- Provide professional, courteous, and attentive food and beverage service to guests during events
- Serve plated meals, buffets, cocktail receptions, and/or family-style service as required by the event format
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of service areas throughout the event
- Clear tables, refresh beverages, and reset place settings as needed during service
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures at all times
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, supervisors, and fellow servers to ensure smooth service flow
- Respond promptly and politely to guest requests and special dietary needs
- Assist with breakdown and cleanup of event spaces following the conclusion of events
- Safely handle and transport trays, glassware, and equipment
- Adhere to uniform, grooming, and professional appearance standards
- Follow all company policies, alcohol service laws, and event-specific guidelines
Qualifications
- Ability to read and understand Banquet Event Orders, Pull Sheets, and other distributed information as it pertains to the event.
- Provide fine dining-level food and beverage service to guests for all events, consistent with Hilliard Center standards of service.
- Initiate and maintain friendly and professional contact with guests, ensuring that all needs are anticipated and met.
- Set up and maintain both food and beverage stations in various locations throughout the building, consistent with Hilliard Center standards of service.
- Maintain all event areas and front-of-house staging areas in a tidy and organized manner.
- Participate in both the setup and the cleanup of food and beverage service items.
- Ability to work independently during slower times
- Perform safe work by helping to provide a safe and clean work environment.

- Must be able to respond to simple complaints or inquiries from customers, members of the business community, and/or regulatory agencies.
- Access to a personal device for communication regarding the schedule and shift instructions.
- High School diploma or equivalent GED strongly preferred. Equivalent experience may be substituted.
- Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in events, banquets, or restaurants preferred.
- Current TABC Certification and Food Handler’s Certificate are required or must be obtainable within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to carry at least 8 entrees per tray, as well as lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects up to 30 lbs. often.
- Must be at least eighteen years of age.
