Overview

The Captain is responsible for event set-up, execution, and breakdown. Serves as the secondary contact for client after the salesperson and the primary point of contact on the event floor. Must be personable, professional, adaptable, and able to work in an ever changing fast-paced environment.

 

This role will pay an hourly wage of $29.00 to $40.00

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing front of house service at Brulee events.
  • Communicates with various departments on event needs, timeline and execution of event.
  • Reviews event order, timeline, rental and linen orders and confirms each on-site to ensure event success.Completes steps of service and assignments for service staff clearly and concisely laying out event on paper.
  • Conducts a pre-event meeting hi-lighting set-up, steps of service, menu and special dietary needs, alcoholic beverage service (if applicable) and breakdown procedures.
  • Directs service of event pairing new team members with more seasoned team members. Consistently checking in on their performance during the event.
  • Promotes a cooperative work climate, maximizing productivity and morale.
  • Immediately address conflict resolution when required. Engages senior management when required.
  • Maintains Brûlée Catering policies & procedures for front of house service, constantly monitoring service quality and ensuring highest level of guest service.
  • Ensures proper handling of all equipment (i.e. china, glassware, silverware, linen, and props) and their proper storage after use.
  • Conducts random audits during functions to evaluate food and service. Ensures that: food is served at appropriate temperature; food is placed properly on the table; sufficient food is available; and up sell opportunities are met.
  • Regularly reviews banquet schedule for changes, calendar of events, and special events.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
  • Must meet state age requirements for handling alcoholic beverages.
  • Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, management staff and guests in a clear, professional and courteous manner which fosters a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to make sound decisions quickly and under pressure
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  • Solid working knowledge of computer applications: Microsoft office, Outlook/Excel/Word, POS systems, timekeeping systems and inventory control systems.
  • Ability to consistently adhere to the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, ethics and confidentiality.
  • Possess valid Food Handlers certificate and Alcohol Service Permit if required by state or local government.
