Overview
The Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of banquet events, including meetings, conventions, weddings, and other special functions as well as supervision of retail concessions outlets and bar service. This hands-on supervisory role ensures that all aspects of service meet or exceed guest expectations by coordinating setup, service, and breakdown while leading a team of servers and support staff.
This role pays an hourly rate of $21.00-25.00

Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all service staff before, during, and after events.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for event organizers and clients during functions.
- Ensure accurate setup, service and breakdown of banquet rooms, buffets and break stations per event specifications (e.g., floor plans, timelines, and menus).
- Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate event details and assignments to team members.
- Maintain high standards of food and beverage service and hospitality.
- Monitor the timing and flow of service; troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Train, coach, and mentor banquet staff; lead by example with professionalism and enthusiasm.
- Collaborate with culinary, sales, and AV teams to ensure seamless event execution.
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety of all banquet areas.
- Complete post-event reports and provide feedback to management.
- Enforce compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Assist with inventory, equipment maintenance, and requisitioning supplies as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; hospitality or culinary degree a plus.
- 2+ years of banquet, catering, or hospitality experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting event reports and diagrams.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- TIPS or ServSafe certification preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
- English proficiency required, bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Flexible schedule including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays depending on event needs.
