Overview
Part-Time AV Technician assist the Chaifetz Arena in-house production crew with a wide variety of arena events, including NCAA Division I basketball games, concerts, touring shows, private events, and other special productions. AV Technicians support the setup, operation, and breakdown of audio and video equipment to ensure seamless and high-quality event execution. Responsibilities include preparing equipment, operating A/V systems during events, troubleshooting technical issues, and assisting staff with all audio and video needs. Technicians must maintain a strong focus on presentation and guest experience while working efficiently in a fast-paced, live event environment.
Additional duties include routine equipment upkeep, inventory tracking, and the safe handling and storage of all technology. Flexibility is essential, as shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
This role will pay an hourly rate of $30.00

Responsibilities
- Assist with event day setup and teardown of AV equipment, including cameras, tripods, microphones, etc.
- Serve as an operator for various positions on the in-house production crew (Ross XPression, NewTek 3Play, Daktronics Show Control, Technical Director, Camera Operator, Camera Shading, Utility)
- Set up, operate, and break down audio and video equipment before, during, and after events.
- Operate cameras, playback systems, microphones, switchers, and other A/V gear as assigned.
- Support the execution of in-game and live-event productions by following cues and direction from production staff.
- Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively during live events.
- Maintain a professional focus on presentation quality and guest experience.
- Perform routine upkeep, cleaning, and basic maintenance of A/V equipment.
- Track, store, and organize production equipment and inventory.
- Assist with cable management, equipment transport, and safe handling of all technology.
- Collaborate with other technicians, production staff, and event personnel to ensure smooth event operations.
- Follow all venue safety procedures and support the safe setup and use of equipment.
Qualifications
- Prior AV experience working in a live production setting is essential
- Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays based on the event schedule
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Basic knowledge of audio and video systems, including cameras, microphones, switchers, and playback devices.
- Ability to troubleshoot common technical issues under time-sensitive conditions.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on presentation quality and guest experience.
- Ability to follow cues, directions, and production schedules accurately.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-pressure, live-event environments.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment (typically 25–50 lbs) and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a professional demeanor.
- Familiarity with signal flow, basic wiring, and cable management (preferred).
