Overview

The Accounting Manager plays a critical leadership role in supporting the Director of Finance in the strategic planning, oversight, and execution of the venue's financial operations. This role is integral to ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of the accounting, purchasing, and internal control functions that support food and beverage operations within a high-volume arena environment.

 

A primary responsibility of this position is the end-to-end management of the bi-weekly payroll function for approximately 700 full-time and part-time employees. This includes overseeing payroll processing, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local labor and tax laws, resolving payroll discrepancies, and coordinating closely with Human Resources and operational departments to maintain accurate employee records and ensure timely payment.

 

This role will pay an annual salary of $60,000 to $65,000 and is bonus eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee general accounting functions, including the general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

  • Supervise and support the Administrative Assistant, providing direction and professional development.

  • Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Manage bi-weekly payroll processing for approximately 700 hourly and salaried employees, including tips, bonuses, and commissions, ensuring compliance with all applicable labor and tax regulations.

  • Perform regular account and bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.

  • Prepare event settlements and coordinate the processing of payments or account transfers.

  • Compile monthly financial statements and support the month-end and year-end close processes.

  • Assist the General Manager and Director of Finance with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support operational goals.

  • Other duties and related responsibilities as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or better from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, finance, public or business administration or a related field required; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Arena/Hotel/Convention Center or similar accounting experience required.
  • May require working beyond normal business hours, including nights, weekends and holidays based on event calendar.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work well with all levels of management.
  • Knowledge of Sage, Coupa preferred, or similar accounting software.
  • Prior supervisory responsibility preferred.
