Overview
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll review, and financial reporting. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records, supports event settlement and reporting processes, and maintains strong internal controls.
The Accounting Manager works closely with the Director of Finance and operational departments to support financial decision-making and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
This role pays an annual salary of $80,000 CAD

Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
- Oversee all core accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.
- Review and approve bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees.
- Review and approve monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for review by the Director of Finance.
- Implement and maintain effective accounting controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Team Leadership and Support
- Hire, train, and supervise the Accounting Assistant, providing guidance and oversight to ensure efficient operations.
- Support Human Resources functions as needed, including maintaining employee records, administering benefits, and assisting with recruitment.
Employee Relations & Policy
- Support performance managment processes.
- Partner with the HRBP on workplace investigations and diciplinary documentation
- Liaison with the union.
Other
- Support financial analysis and special projects as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the General Manager.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Progress toward a professional accounting designation (CPA) preferred.
- Minimum of three years of accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility, preferably within the facility management, events, or entertainment industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience with SAGE accounting software and ADP payroll processing preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
