Overview

The Accounting Assistant supports the Finance Department by performing routine accounting and clerical duties, assisting with accounts payable and receivable, processing payroll support tasks, and maintaining accurate financial records. This position provides general administrative support to ensure efficient operation of daily accounting functions.

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $23.00-$25.00

Responsibilities

  • Assist with accounts payable processing, including coding invoices and preparing payments.
  • Assist with accounts receivable, including preparing invoices and recording payments.
  • Enter financial data into accounting software with accuracy.
  • Support general ledger entries and maintain organized financial records.
  • Assist with bank and account reconciliations.
  • Support payroll processing by gathering timekeeping information and assisting with data entry.
  • Assist with event settlements and documentation preparation.
  • Verify daily deposits and maintain cash handling records.
  • Maintain organized filing systems (electronic and paper).
  • Provide general administrative support to the Finance Department.

Qualifications

  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Experience in cash handling and cash reconciliations.
  • Experience with accounting software preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information.
  • Professional and customer-focused attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Associate degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • 1–2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.
  • May require occasional work beyond normal business hours based on event schedule.
