Dickies Arena is a 14,000 seat, spectacular multipurpose venue located adjacent to the Will Rogers Memorial Center campus in Fort Worth, Texas. The arena is owned by the City of Fort Worth and managed by the not-for-profit operating entity, Trail Drive Management Corp (TDMC).

Our state-of-the-art arena hosts concerts, sporting events, family entertainment, and is the new home to Fort Worth Stock Show rodeo performances. Our team is growing, and we are looking for energetic and motivated individuals to join us.

Job Description :

  • The full time Painter/Carpenter would perform general building interior & exterior painting, surface repairs and modifications. [BS1] The painting and carpentry work must be performed in a professional manner, with constant attention to details and a high-level of quality in a timely manner. This position would be working in a multi-purpose arena, providing a safe, well-maintained building environment for clients, guests, and arena staff.

Essential Job Functions- Include, but are not limited to the following:

  • The primary duty of the fulltime Painter/Carpenter is to maintain, repair, replace, re-paint sheetrock walls and ceilings, wood trim, wainscoting, cabinets, doors and door frames in the Arena and adjacent parking facilities as needed to keep the Facilities in a “like new” condition.

  • Have the ability and skill to repair damaged painted & stained wood trim, wainscoting, cove molding, chair rails, etc. by replacing, repairing and/or refinishing wood surfaces as needed, to make it “like new” again, using wood refinishing technics with hand and power tools.

  • Have the ability and skill to repair sheetrock walls & ceilings, by replacing damaged sheetrock, then taping, bedding, floating the wall & ceiling surfaces to the original texture and repainting as needed.

  • Have the ability and skill to perform various painting tasks, including applying primer and finish coats on interior and exterior surfaces, such as walls, ceilings and woodwork to make it “like new” again using brushes, paint rollers or spray guns.

  • The ability to fill cracks, holes, and open joints in various wall surfaces and wood trim with caulk, putty, wall mud, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.

  • Will be required to cover surfaces with drop clothes, masking tape, plastic and/or plastic to protect surrounding surfaces during all painting, staining and refinishing processes.

  • Ability to perform repairs and refinish work from scaffolding, ladders, boom lifts and scissor lifts at various heights using the appropriate fall protection gear as required. These areas could include, but are not limited to, the exterior of the Arena, interior ceilings up to 65’ high and catwalks suspended 165’ from the arena floor.

  • Ability to read and comprehend building plans, sketches, and shop drawings for woodwork design and fabrication.

  • Ability to keep the required paint, refinishing materials and tools in stock to perform regular work repair requests.

  • Ability to abide by and follow OSHA, NFPA and other safety codes as well as comply and adhere to hazardous materials standards and codes with the goal of ensuring a consistently safe working environment while working on property.

  • Ability to assist the Operations department with setup and reconfiguration of the Arena Bowl seating systems prior to and after the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo as required.

  • This position must be able to work a flexible work week schedule with a minimum of 40 hours per week. This schedule could include evenings, weekends and holidays as required by the Arena events and scheduled by the Director of Engineering and the Assistant Chief Engineer.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum high school graduate or GED required.

  • A trade school attendee or graduate with specialized training in a building related field, such as Building Trades, construction or other trade preferred.

  • 3+ years’ experience as a carpenter / painter in any of the commercial building trades or have work experience that would exhibit commercial building maintenance/repairing abilities.

  • Willingness to learn all applicable laws, codes, ordinances, safety precautions, and emergency procedures related to facility management.

  • Must have a state of Texas motor vehicle license.

  • Willingness to learn and operate a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and ensure deadlines are achieved.

  • Willingness to work outside as required, being exposed to adverse weather conditions and fluctuating temperatures.

  • Ability to stand for extended/ long periods of time.

While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to multi-task under time limits and with moderate to high pressure situations. Position requires constant attention to details and accuracy of specified standards including following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time; This position also requires use of interpersonal skills with internal and external clients. Employee will frequently communicate via radio and in-person with others and exchange accurate information. This position requires employee to frequently work both independently and as part of a team. Position also requires being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, by being able to openly communicate with clients and guests.


Physical Demands

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee will frequently operate a computer and other office devices such as calculators, telephones, copy machines and printers. Employee will constantly move about inside and outside various areas of the facility before/during/after events to interact with internal/external clients during events. Employee must constantly communicate via telephone, radios, email and in-person with others and exchange accurate information. Employee may occasionally be required due to business demands and event operations to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. As business, maintenance, operations or emergency situations require, employee may sporadically assist in lifting/moving 100 lbs. or more.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to work in outside weather conditions; however, the duties of this position are performed primarily indoors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, with the exception of event days, where the sound levels may be higher than moderate. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
