GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Human Resources Assistant provides comprehensive administrative support to the HR department, ensuring high-quality service by adhering to established HR standards, policies, and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES and OVERSIGHT: The duties below reflect the minimum requirements for this position.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and process administrative documentation related to employee disciplinary actions, including written warnings, suspensions, and terminations.
- Manage the Unemployment Insurance Claims process by investigating claims, gathering relevant employee information, and responding to third-party administrators (e.g., Emptech).
- Administer Disability Claims by completing and submitting required EDD documentation in a timely manner.
- Handle employment verification requests by preparing verification letters and generating work history reports.
- Coordinate employee reactivation processes by meeting with returning employees and updating necessary documentation.
- Manage the Worker Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) process by collecting employee data and submitting it to the appropriate vendor to support tax credit eligibility.
- Respond to HR-related phone calls and emails, providing timely and professional assistance.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
- Periodically work in the field as a Report Writer to engage with staff and assess workplace conditions and morale.
- Administer the No Show/Late Cancellation process in accordance with company policies.
- Perform additional HR administrative duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma required; minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
LANGUAGE ABILITY:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as event files and state regulated rest and meal break policies
MATH ABILITY:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER & EQUIPMENT SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Explorer; Microsoft Outlook; Microsoft PowerPoint; and Microsoft Share point. Must become proficient on company Protatech Scheduling program and SORT online training program.
TRAVEL:
Depending on business needs, travel may be required.
